about us

Oh hey! We're Josh and Heather. I love him, he loves me. And together we make Moth + Moonlite- a husband and wife wedding photography and videography team  based in Dallas, Texas. Our style is both timeless and unique, blending documentary wedding photography with editorial and fine art inspirations. It's our goal to create imagery that makes you FEEL. But we also want you to have those pictures that you look back at and say, "Damn, we look cool." With that being said, if you're looking for stagnant and stiff poses, we probably aren't for you. Because we want to capture not only what your love looks like, but what it feels like. We're all about that human connection. The caress, the tender gaze, the intertwined hands. The quiet moments of nervous anticipation. The sudden emotion when you realize you're about to marry your best friend. We live for those in-between moments. The moments when you don't think anybody is watching. We believe these moments are what set your love a part. And with these moments, we create raw, honest and emotive imagery. Photographs that you can look back at in 10, 20, 30 years and remember how you felt. This is your magic. The magic we see in you. The magic we want to show you. Head on over to our contact page so we can start making that magic together. Xx

Hey, I'm Heather! That's me freezing my bum off on one of our many grand adventures. Nothing makes my heart soar more than exploring the peaks and valleys of Mother Earth in all of her glory. Preferably with that terribly handsome husband of mine by my side and a camera or two. I could probably carry on a full conversation with quotes from The Office and I could easily sort you into your proper Hogwarts house. I'm an INFP which means I'm The Idealist, The Dreamer, The Healer. It means I am intuitive, empathetic and understanding but also strong willed and curious. Josh says I'm weird (but I'd say that about him too). You'll find me most days with my nose in a book or working with my hands. I'm always creating. Whether that is with my camera or my jewelers saw. But I believe this combination of "weird" and creative is why photography resonates so  much with me and why I am so passionate about what I do. I adore every single one of our clients and their unique individualities. I'd probably adore you too. So let's grab a coffee and talk about what sparks your dreams. Xx

Oh hai, I'm Josh - resident gear (guitar, camera, video game) nerd and the bearded half of Moth + Moonlite. I'm an affable lad with a fondness for my wife's jokes, loud music, dogs, and all things picturesque. Heather and I are quite opposite but both the universe, as well as our marriage license, suggest that opposites do indeed attract. I've been an active musician most of my adult life and after doing sound for several low budget short films I began to gravitate to camera work. Thankfully, my mentors lent me a great deal of their cinematic vision and I feel it is reflected in each of our wedding films. FYI - any encounter we have in the future will be rife with sarcasm and nerdy references. So if you like movie and tv references we are your team! Also, tacos. We are Team Taco for home games and Team Pizza for away games. Lastly, dogs are good. So are memes. And chai tea lattes.

our approach

We understand that planning a wedding can be a whirlwind of stress and emotions. We've totally been there. And that's why it's so important for you to find a photographer and videographer that you connect with and feel comfortable around. Nobody needs their vendors to be an added stress to their wedding. That's why we like to use a more hands off and laid back approach for most of the day. We prefer to be story tellers and to document your day as it unfolds naturally rather than set up posed moments that feel disingenuous. Early in the day, we try to blend in with everyone else as they get ready. We will snap some photos of you getting your makeup done and probably talk about our dogs. Or yours. We may make occasional suggestions like ask you to move to a better spot where the light is just right while you continue to put on your jewelry or button your jacket. But for the most part we just let you get ready naturally. As for the wedding party, we spend about 20 minutes here with a few camera aware shots and some shots of everyone interacting. We follow a similar method with portraits of the two of you. With about 30 minutes here, we try to focus more on natural interactions. We do this by really reading the vibes of each couple and letting their personalities lead the show. We understand that some couples are more affectionate while others are less touchy-feely and we really try to pay attention to that so that your images ring true to who you are. We will probably do a lot of laughing and Josh will probably crack a bunch of ridiculous jokes. Our advice here is to really try to relax, embrace the process and breathe each other in. Family photos are a bit different when it comes to our approach. These are the most traditional photos we will take all day but equally as important. The rest of the day, from ceremony to exit, we will document your day as it unfolds with very little direction. Just remember to be present and to focus on each other. When you do that, you won't be worried about our cameras. When you feel relaxed and comfortable, you look relaxed and comfortable. And we will do our best to help make you feel that way!

our approach

"Photos were the most important thing to us when it came to wedding planning, and after much research looking for the perfect photographer, we hit the JACKPOT when I found Moth + Moonlite!! We wanted photographers that made us feel less awkward in front of the camera and also comfortable being our silly selves, and they exceeded that!"
